New integrated linear shaft motor unit for space-constrained high accurate flexible Z-Positioning
Dedicated for the vertical Z-axis function in applications with limited space, Nippon Pulse Motors introduces a new series of integrated Linear Shaft Motor units. The Durable construction allows operating in a clean room environment, in a vacuum, or under water and is maintenance free.
Specially designed for realizing the Z-function, the new family of integrated linear shaft motor, is featuring high-energy magnets for greater force in mid-range combined with a very compact and efficient counterbalance (patent pending). The motor-unit will not fall when de-energized as it also contains this new and revolutionary solution for the requested counterbalance,
The linear motor-units are based on the SX060 and SX100 series of LSM and have almost no magnetic flux leakage, allowing designs with only a 9-millimetre pitch. The motors can reach stroke lengths to 300 mm,
To achieve more simple structure and a cost effective compact design, this scaleless linear shaft motor also eliminates the need of an External encoder and counterbalance.
The linear shaft motor is a high-precision, direct-drive motor that operates very precisely and is free of cogging. Linear servo motors are contactless. Since the coil wraps completely around the magnets, the magnetic flux density is used effectively. This allows for a large (0.5 to 5 mm) ring-shaped nominal air gap. This air gap is not critical, in the sense that there are no changes in force. A Linear movement resolution as small as 0.07 nanometre is achievable, but also high precise speed control (up to 6.5 meters/second) and low speeds (down to 8 micrometres per second) are achievable with virtually no speed fluctuations (+/- 0.006% at 100 micrometres/second).
No lubrication/adjustment maintenance required:
The linear servo motor does not require greasing and shows no loss of power due to wear/aging. Its maintenance-free long service life contributes to a lifelong cost reduction.
