Evotron presents a world first: LED ring light illuminators for machine vision with up to 8 separately controllable segments are controlled by a single single-channel illumination controller. This is based on evotron's patented FPGA-based lumiSENS® technology.
The DCC2404 digital single-channel LED illumination controller handles camera triggering and synchronised control of the LED segments of the ring illumination. This reduces the amount of hardware and cabling required for the lighting to just one eighth of conventional solutions!
With sequences of up to 16 different segment combinations, advanced 3D lighting techniques can be greatly simplified and made compact. The ring lighting is integrated into the machine controls via WLAN using a web interface, app or API.
The switching of the individual LED segments is extremely fast. Even at switching frequencies of 10 kHz, the light energy remains constant from segment to segment and is synchronised with the image acquisition. The lumiSENS® technology also ensures that the light output of the LEDs can be controlled to the physical limits without damaging the LEDs. For the first time, the high dynamics and speed potential of modern high-performance CMOS cameras can also be used for moving parts.
The benefits are impressive: Process testing times are minimised, hardware requirements are drastically reduced and lead to significant cost savings. Space is saved in the control cabinet and machine and the digital precision enables exactly reproducible settings. Set-up, installation and maintenance can be carried out in the shortest possible time.
